Duties

Many shelters rely on volunteers for tasks such as dog walking, cat socializing, answering phones, newsletter production, and staffing special events.  The volunteer coordinator recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises volunteers in their important work.

Education and Background

Volunteer coordinators have diverse backgrounds but all need skills working with people and animals, plus writing, speaking, supervising, and organizational abilities.
