Duties

Writers may write articles for the print or for the web, grant proposals, nonfiction books, novels, plays, film scripts, and online courses, using their skills with words to inform,  persuade, and inspire their readers.  Many also teach writing to children or adults or edit the writings of others.

Education and Background

Reading may be the best preparation for a writer, but formal courses in English, literature, zoology, and environmental science will improve writing technique and subject matter expertise.  Then, write, write, write.
