Humane Euthanasia-by-Injection
| | | | | "Euthanasia is the final act of kindness that we, as sheltering professionals, can offer to the animals in our care." Leslie Sinclair, DVM |
Millions of dogs and cats enter shelters every year in the United States, but according to the best estimates available, only 25 - 35% of these animals are adopted. There are simply not enough responsible homes for all of these wonderful, innocent animals and, at this point in time, it would be impossible to humanely house every unwanted animal in the United States. Euthanasia is still an unfortunate necessity. Humane Society University presents Dr. Leslie Sinclair in person. Her workshops will give you the technical knowledge you need to provide the best possible death for each animal you euthanize. Workshop Topics include Overview of euthanaisa methods and criteria for selection of animals to be euthanized Euthanasia-related stress The euthanasia process Proper use of sodium pentobarbital Final care, including death verification
Texas Euthanasia Technician Training Program For a one–time fee, your agency can own the six-tape euthanasia-by-injection series created by Animal Care Training (ACT) Programs in collaboration with The Humane Society of the United States. The series includes one copy of The HSUS Euthanasia Training Manual and the manual on CD-ROM (CD-ROM can be reproduced). To complete the training, each employee must attend a conveniently located one-day session discussing the legal requirement concerning the use of carbon monoxide, an euthanasia-by-injection hands-on practical, and a final exam. Purchase the six euthanasia training videos for all of your current and future employees. Have your employees view the videos and study the euthanasia manual. Then, schedule your employees at one of the required six conveniently located hands-on sessions: (Space is limited - residents of Texas will be given first priority) To learn about upcoming humane euthanasia-by-injection workshops, go to the Course Search and enter the keyword euthanasia. |
