Course Description

Would you like to improve your ability to lead your organization through challenging changes that you know will have a lasting positive impact? In this exciting experiential class, you will have a guided opportunity to make change happen. You will use the theory and practices you learned in “Managing Change” to manage a change initiative in your organization. This course is designed to provide coaching and lessons on leaderships to support your work. You bring the challenge, and we’ll provide the support in this hands-on learning experience.

This 8-week course is part of the Executive Leadership Certificate Program.

Course Objectives

Leading Change is both interactive and experiential. We will use real-life examples and perform activities in your change project to help you:

  • Contract with your Sponsors for change;
  • Determine project goals using a whole-system, participative approach;
  • Develop the project plan, timeline, and specific action steps
  • Design action plans based on participative methods of change management;
  • Learn leadership skills that will help you manage change with managers, supervisors, staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders

Prerequisites

“Managing Change” must be taken prior to or concurrently with “Leading Change.” Both courses are electives in the Executive Leadership Certificate series.

Class Format: Online

There are no scheduled lecture times; instead, you log on at your convenience to participate in weekly discussions and submit assignments. Expect to spend at least 2-4 hours per week reading materials, completing assignments, and discussing issues.
