Course Description
Learn how to strategically establish priorities and identify major organizational direction to produce fundamental decisions and actions that will shape and guide what your organization is, what it does, and why it does it.
This 4-week course is part of the Executive Leadership Certificate Program.
Course Objectives
This course will provide knowledge to animal care organization executives in the following areas:
- Distinguishing between strategic plans and long-range plans (knowing what is strategic planning and what it is not).
- Understanding the concepts and vocabulary of the discipline of strategic planning.
- Understanding that strategic planning is a thoughtful continuous process and a useful management tool.
- Choosing the strategic planning process that is appropriate to your unique situation.
- Beginning to create a strategic plan for your organization.
Class Format: Online
There are no scheduled lecture times; instead, you log on at your convenience to participate in weekly discussions and submit assignments. Expect to spend at least 2-4 hours per week reading materials, completing assignments, and discussing issues.
