Course Description
This course will provide participants with a wide range of tools and techniques to use to more effectively and efficiently manage their volunteer program. Students will be encouraged to evaluate their current management methods and to experiment with new ones. By the end of the course, each student will have an individualized action plan for how they will enhance their volunteer program while making their work load more manageable.
This 4-week course is part of the Volunteer Management Certificate Program
Course Objectives
· Conduct an in-depth assessment of your current volunteer program
· Examine the major steps that produce a successful volunteer program
· Explore techniques for applying these steps
· Review online technologies for volunteer recruitment, contact management, and scheduling systems
· Analyze the benefits of creating a volunteer mentoring program
· Investigate a variety of communication strategies to implement these new tools and techniques
Class Format: Online
There are no scheduled lecture times; instead, you log on at your convenience to participate in weekly discussions and submit assignments. Expect to spend at least 2-4 hours per week reading materials, completing assignments, and discussing issues.
